Inclusion work pours attention into what gets said in a room: the framing, the business case, the careful handling of a hard conversation. The room itself rarely gets a second thought: who sits where, how close, in what configuration, and what that determines about who speaks and who stays quiet. Facilitating sensitive kōrero, bringing disagreement into the open, making room for voices across every dimension of diversity: none of that happens in the abstract. It happens in a particular arrangement of people in a particular space.
This is the kind of thing that's hard to learn without experiencing it and that's the ground this fireside.rs workshop covers. Over 90 minutes, it walks through the different shapes of gathering, the natural formats people settle into when they come together, drawn from research across more than a hundred of them. The learning is physical. You sit inside the configurations - feeling for yourself how proximity, configuration and setting shift attention, candour and belonging.
For accredited professionals, the workshop maps to the Communication competency in the Workplace Inclusion Framework and counts towards continuous professional development. Members of our Workplace Inclusion Professional Accreditation community can attend this event for free. Please email accreditation@workplaceinclusion.org.nz and we will send you an individual booking link.
Come curious. The session is experiential and hands-on, and you'll leave with something you can use the very next day.
