This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore a deeper understanding of holistic wellbeing from a te ao Māori perspective, beginning with us, ko au. We will create and nurture kōrero, engage, and encourage learning as we reflect and consider how we may embed and weave hauora (wellness) into our daily wellbeing tikanga (practices). This session will dive into your current resources, what re-sources you and explore ‘new’ resources through the lens of:
- Te Whare Tapa Wha - whatumanawa (emotions), wairua (spirituality), hinengaro (mind), tinana (body, whānau (family), whenua (land, place)
- Manawa (heart, pulse) – poutokomanawa (that which is your backbone, keeps you strong), whatumanawa (‘seat’ of emotions, heart & mind), pūmanawa (natural talent, gifts, beating heart)
- Harikoa – happiness, joy
Our intention is to create and provide you with:
- Self-awareness and reflection - Internal check-ins, awareness of thoughts, body, wisdom and embracing your unique gifts
- Connection and belonging - Nurturing belonging and aligning with te taiao (the natural world) and Maramataka (Māori Lunar Calendar).
- Resilience and empowerment - Building resilience, recognising inner essence and self-determination.
- Wellbeing practices - Creating a personalised Hauora Map, embedding wellbeing practices into your daily life.
This workshop is part of the Hauora Ako series which looks at wellbeing through a te ao Māori lens. It is presented in partnership with a subject matter expert and will be facilitated by Tuihana Ohia – read more about Tuihana here.
There are two other workshops in the Hauora Ako series:
Te Whare Tapa Mahi (Workplace Discovery) is for leaders who would like to explore and apply a te ao Māori lens to improving the wellbeing of their teams
Mana Motuhake (identity, autonomy, independence) is a follow-on course from Te Whare Tapa Au, and further navigates embracing and recognising moments of whakata, (pause), hā (breath) and reflection.
